Sia and Lorde to compete for Golden Globe Award
Adelaide native Sia and New Zealand artist Lorde have each been nominated for USfilm and television awards, The Golden Globes.
Both nominated in the Best Original Song category, Lorde’s wrote Yellow Flicker Beat for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,the soundtrack for which she curated, andSia penned the track Opportunity for the remake of Annie. Opportunity was performed by the film's 11-year-old actressQuvenzhané Wallis, who has also been nominated in the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film category.
Lorde and Sia are up against John Legend & Common for their track Glory from Selma; Lana Del Rey for the title track from Big Eyes and Patti Smith, who wrote the track Mercy Is from Noah, starring Australian actor Russel Crowe.
Lorde can add the nomination to her slew of international accolades. Earlier this months he was nominated forBBC's International Artist of the Year award and has been given multiple nods at the American Music Awards. In terms of international awards wins, she's taken homethe Grammy Award for Song Of The Year (Royals) and Best Pop Solo Performance (Best Pop Solo Performance),the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Zealand Act, the Brit Award for International Female Solo Artist and theBillboard Music Award for Top New Artist and Top Rock Song (Royals)as well as eleven other nominations.
Sia has been nominated for five Grammy Awards including four this year alone, this year she was also nominated for two MTV Europe Music Awards and threeMTV Video Music Awards, of which she won one for Best Choreography for the Chandelier video.
