Sheppard’s ’Geromino’ certified Platinum in the US
PRESS RELEASE:
ARIA Award-winning indie/pop band Sheppard’s breakthrough single “Geronimo” is now certified platinum by the USA's RIAA for digital sales and streams in excess of 1,000,000. Adding to a host of worldwide accolades and achievements, this is the Brisbane outfit’s very first U.S. certification.
Fresh off their support slot on Meghan Trainor’s sold out That Bass Tour, Sheppard have announced a string of U.S. dates this summer including radio shows and global festival appearances, such as Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. The band will also play a special L.A. headline show at The Roxy on June 8.
Sheppard recently closed out the Radio Disney Music Awards with a high octane performance of “Geronimo.” Up next, the band will perform on CBS’ The Talk on June 2.
Sheppard’s international success follows the mammoth reception Sheppard have received at home in Australia, where they were recently nominated for 7 ARIA awards, winning the award for ‘Best Group’. “Geronimo” was the highest selling single of 2014 in Australia, where it is certified five times platinum. The band’s Australian debut album, Bombs Away, has attained gold status, remaining atop the ARIA charts since release. “Geronimo” is a Top 10 European airplay record, garnering radio play in 50 countries, as well as reaching the Top 10 on the singles chart in over 12 countries. What’s more, the single is approaching 130 million Spotify streams worldwide and the band recently became the third Australian group to impact the American Top 40 in the 21st century alongside 5 Seconds Of Summer and Jet. The hometown heroes also recently garnered a nomination for “Song of the Year” and won for “Pop Work of the Year” and “Most Played Australian Work” at Australia’s APRA Music Awards.
