Shazam teams with Rdio to stream full tracks
Shazam has made an update to its iOS version overnight that allows users to playback full songs after they Shazam them.
The music discovery app has teamed with Rdio for the free update, enabling current subscribers to the streaming service the option to click the Rdio logo or ‘play button’ whilst using Shazam to stream full songs.
After users stream each track they are automatically collected in an Rdio playlist titled ‘Your Shazamed Tracks’. Streamed songs on Shazam can also be added to any Rdio playlist in users’ accounts or shared on Facebook.
Shazam now has prompts in place for users who aren’t already signed up to the Rdio app which direct them to the iTunes App Store.
Daniel Danker, Chief Product Officer for Shazam, told TMN: “At Shazam we’ve always been big believers in creating technology that is magical and simple to use. Today’s update brings Rdio streaming seamlessly into Shazam, so Rdio users can effortlessly play full tracks while discovering and exploring music right inside of the Shazam app.”
The update is currently only available on iOS with an Android update launching in the next few days.
Chris Becherer, SVP of Product at Rdio, said: “We are thrilled to be the first streaming music service to power Shazam’s new in-app song playback. This partnership helps us deliver on our promise to be everywhere music is being discovered.”
