Shania Twain could hit #1 this week, and that does impress us. Much.

Shania Twain’s first album in fifteen years, Now, is on track to debut in the high reaches of the ARIA chart this weekend – almost certainly guaranteed a top three placement, and a huge chance to nab the top spot.

Last week’s top three was flooded with footy anticipation: grand final performers The Killers and Macklemore sat at #1 and #3 respectively, with the Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold dropping from pole position to #2.

Post-footy, it’s hard to tell if the grand final performances will keep them at the top of the charts, or if people will be over it.

Macklemore’s ‘Same Love’ looks likely to top the ARIA Singles chart this week, no doubt bolstered by sales and streams following his performance – but this song isn’t from his new record Gemini, so those streams won’t count towards his ARIA Albums chart placement.

As always, Sheeran is hanging in there at #4 – I’ve stopped being shocked that people keep buying/spinning/streaming/listening to this thing, so Ed could very well be sitting at #1, again, when this weekend’s chart comes out.

Other debuts looking likely to… debut in the Top 10 include Demi Lovato’s ‘Tell Me You Love Me’, Miley Cyrus’ return-to-not-freaking-out-the-squares ‘Younger Now’, and Rick Price and Jack Jones’ covers album ‘California Dreaming’.

Rick and Jack are, quite simply, two of the greatest Aussie vocalists of the ’90s, so it’s great to see them a) teaming up b) belting out some fine covers and c) back on the charts, like it’s Saturday morning and Video Hits is on. Shit, turn over, Recovery is on!

The ARIA charts come out on Saturday night at 6pm – unless they forget to do it, or something.
