Mushroom Vision & ABC TV’s music television show The Sound will wrap up its first season this week with a huge lineup of Aussie artists.

Leading the lineup is Tones And I, who swept the 2019 ARIA Awards in her breakout year when ‘Dance Monkey’ became the most streamed song globally. She’ll join to perform her follow-up hit ‘Never Seen The Rain’.

She recently launched a developing artists page on Instagram called ‘That One Song’, where rising acts can go in the running to win $5L and join Tones for a recording session. She spoke to Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa this week about the initiative.

Tones And I will be joined by fellow multi-ARIA winners Guy Sebastian and Bliss n Eso, as well as Vika and Linda.

“I’m so honoured to be on this final episode of the very first series of The Sound. To have a show like this on TV that showcases Australian music is so important to our industry and the artists,” Sebastian said.

“We’re pumped to be a part of The Sound and get to perform live on the top of the iconic Sydney Tower Eye in Sydney,” Bliss n Eso added.

“This was a spot that we first went to to write rhymes when Bliss n Eso was in its infancy, years and years ago. To come full circle and perform the first ever music video up there years later is just amazin.”

One of the big moments of the final episode will come from Adelaide’s Electric Fields, who’ll perform their version of ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ alongside special guests Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy and John Butler.

“As live music lovers, we’re all being confronted by this moment,” Electric Fields said.

“The Sound connects live musicians to the audience – like the new in-between – and we’re grateful and excited to share our version of this iconic song by Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly.”

Rising Aussie star CXLOE will also perform, as will Josh Teskey from The Teskey Brothers and Ash Grunwald, launching a new collaborative project live on TV!

This week’s tribute goes out to Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, and comes from a special band including Jimmy Barnes, Chris Cheney (The Living End), Mahalia Barnes, Ben Rodgers, Lachy Doley and Jackie Barnes.

Hosts Jane Gazzo and Zan Rowe are this week joined by special guests Keith Urban, Jack Thompson and former host of Countdown Molly Meldrum.

Live From The Vault will take viewers back to 1984 for a performance by Mondo Rock.

The Sound season finale takes place this Sunday, August 23 at 5:30pm (with a catch-up the following Saturday at 12pm).

Previous episodes of The Sound are available to view at ABC iView.
