SCA ready half-year report; smoothfm album hits #1; Mix 102.3 reveal breakfast host
SCA prepare for half-year report
Next Wednesday (Feb 19), Southern Cross Media will reveal their half-year report to their shareholders.
In the lead up to this, the Financial Review yesterday reported on some key losses to the radio side of the business lately, including Kyle & Jackie O’s move to ARN and the untimely death of CFO Stephen Kelly.
SCA also lost company secretary Louise Bolger, who resigned on Friday (she was replaced internally by Stephen Mead) and Marina Darling who left the board last month. Both left for personal reasons.
CEO Rhys Holleran has told the Fin Review: “The theory of being large is diversification but the downside of being large is there’s always an issue. But we think the business is in really good hands and it’s where it’s supposed to be.”
No doubts this time around for Kate Ritchie
New drive announcer on the Nova network, Kate Ritchie, has spoken about her new gig working with Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold. Kate has also talked about her time doing breakfast at Nova 96.9 in Sydney, saying:
’’I suppose there was a part of me that wondered why I got the job. You’re always second-guessing, [wondering] am I here because I can do this job or am I here because I’m that girl from the television?’’
Kate says this time around she doesn’t have the doubts she did back then.

The real story behind the Fifi/Jules Eminem interview
An interview with Eminem aired on both 2Day FM breakfast with Jules Lund and Fox FM breakfast with Fifi Box last week seemed to have some… similarities.
Although it sounds like two separate interviews, the answers Eminem gave were identical.
The rumour mill kicked into gear, asking whether it actually an EPK with the questions cut in, or if the interview was recorded by Fifi, but then re-edited it to make it sound like Jules also had an interview
Rather than speculate along with some others, here’s the real story: “We recorded it together but had to split it,” said Jules.

The aircheck, a samurai sword, and a Group PD
Hamish and Andy’s Happy Hour recently featured ’Urban Legends’ (the show chooses a different topic each day).
They wanted to clear up one they have heard numerous times in the halls of the network.
They spoke with ’Harley Dave’ Cameron, Head of Today Network, who they hoped would shed some light on the former Austereo programming boss who apparently took a samurai sword out during an aircheck and destroyed a cassette with it.
