Sarah Woolcott joins BMG as legal & business affairs director
Sarah Woolcott joins BMG Australia as director, legal & business affairs reporting to managing director, Heath Johns.
Woolcott comes with 12 years of music industry experience, with stints at Warner Music Australia and, more recently as an entertainment lawyer at Media Arts Lawyers where she negotiated including publishing, recording and management contracts for the firm’s high profile artists.
Johns says of her appointment, “Sarah is one of the most respected and highly regarded lawyers in the Australian music industry, and her diverse skill-set will be a massive asset for BMG Australia as we expand our recordings and publishing business.
“I am pleased and excited to welcome Sarah into this newly created role as we continue our rapid growth story into 2019 and beyond”.
Since its launch in March 2016, BMG’s Australian operation acquired veteran music company Alberts and one of Asia-Pacific’s largest production music houses Big Bang & Fuzz, as well as signing domestic acts including Peking Duk, LDRU, SAFIA, Golden Features, Wolfmother, JET, The Living End, Didirri and Winston Surfshirt.
Recently it became the music partner for Neighbours, and partnering with Peking Duk for its children’s book DJ Duks.
New publishing signings were Alison Wonderland, Illy and What So Not, and label signing was Dune Rats.
