Sam Fischer’s new track Hopeless Romantic reveals his recent struggles
Sam Fischer has released his new single ‘Hopeless Romantic’, which delves into the struggles he’s faced as an artist, particularly as someone who romanticises everyday life.
Australian-born Fischer is currently in the UK, having just wrapped up his first-ever headline tour, but he hasn’t always been able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
“There have been times over the past two years where I really felt like I’d never get to do the things I’d always dreamed about doing as an artist,” he said. “With every virtual performance that ended with a deep silence from my furniture, it just started making me really sad, and at the same time guilty, because I wasn’t appreciating what I have at all.
“I was actively refusing to accept the reality and instead romanticising a version of life that simply didn’t exist. That’s really what ‘Hopeless Romantic’ is about. Though I will say, having just come off my first headline tour, where I got to meet my fans for the first time, who are the people who give me this life, I’m in a much better place.”
The video for ‘Hopeless Romantic’ was shot in London in one fluid shot, including five sets and four outfit changes.
Fischer’s debut single ‘This City’ has amassed over 500 million streams across the world. It stayed in the UK top 20 for 11 weeks and is double Platinum here in Australia, and Gold in the US, New Zealand and Switzerland.
He’s toured North America with Lewis Capaldi and performed on Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Next up for the rising superstar is a tour of the US in January 2022.
