Rolling Stones’ Australian tour in doubt
UPDATE: Frontier Touring has confirmed The Rolling Stones’ Perth concert tomorrow night has been postponed.
Media are anticipating an official statement from Frontier Touring following the sudden death of Mick Jagger’s partner.
L’Wren Scott, a renowned fashion designer and stylist, was found dead in her New York apartment this morning. Police have ruled out foul play. Scott and Jagger had been dating since 2001.
Reports that the promoter giant were to hold a press conference outside The Rolling Stones’ hotel in Perth early this afternoon were quashed when media were asked to leave the premises.
Perth presenting station 96FM announced Frontier has cancelled the band’s Perth date, however an official statement from Frontier Touring is still to come.
The Rolling Stones arrived in the country yesterday for their ’14 On Fire’ Australia and New Zealand jaunt. They were set to kick off the Australian leg at Perth Arena tomorrow night before dates in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, the Macedon Ranges and Brisbane.
Media reports surfaced that Jagger left the Hyatt Regency Hotel this morning to fly back to New York in a private jet. Jagger’s daughter Georgia May is reportedly on her way to New York after arriving in Melbourne this morning for the city’s Fashion Week. It’s unclear whether the pair will be flying to the US together.
