Ricochet Ball 2024 Nets Fundraising Record

Ricochet Ball 2024 Nets Fundraising Record

This year’s Ricochet Ball tournament was a big winner — with SCA taking the title, TMRW Music-Ministry of Sound Events topping the table of fundraisers, and participants raking-in more than $40,000 for charity.

A dozen teams lined up Friday afternoon (June 14) at Perry Park in Alexandria, for the music industry’s charity netball event.

The $40,000 total netted for good causes makes it the biggest event year in the four years of Ricochet Ball, organizers say.

Ricochet Ball was established by DJ, songwriter and producer Kristy Lee Peters (aka KLP) and music publicist Anna Fitzgerald, founder of ms.fitz communications.

Since its inception, the tourney has been held in 2018, 2019, 2022 and now 2024, amassing $115,000 for charity.

For the record, SCA won the 2024 title, beating team Live Nation x Secret Sounds (raising money for Support Act). With their victory spoils, SCA receives a $7,000 donation to their charity, Lou’s Place, in addition to the almost-$2,000 the team raised.

Team TMRW Music-Ministry of Sound Events were the biggest fundraisers of the tournament, raising over $5,370 for Friends With Dignity.

The standard of netball gets better every year, remarks KLP and Fitzgerald, and “SCA were the worthy winners on the day – they came to win. We want to thank every single player who participated and more importantly, those who really got behind the fundraising this year. To raise over $40,000 is a huge feat and we thank every single person who donated to some incredible charities.”

Other competing teams included APRA (Green Music Australia), ARIA (Teach Us Consent), Aus Net Top Models (National Breast Cancer Foundation), Future Classic (Foodbank), iHeartRadio (Bayside Women’s Shelter), Sony Music (White Ribbon), Sportify (Gurrumul Yunupingu Foundation), Sweat It Out (Women’s & Girls’ Emergency Centre) and Universal Music (MMAD).

Ballers included broadcast personality Matt Okine, Danny Clayton, KLP, Hugo from Flight Facilities, Nath Roye from the “Jimmy & Nath Show,” and The Brag Media’s Lars Brandle, while ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd cheered on from the sidelines.

“There’s a reason SCA always come back to play in the Ricochet Ball netball tournament,” comments the winning team captain Kiri Martin, “we get to raise money for a charity of our choice and it’s always such a well organised event where people across the music industry can come together, have a laugh and can compete for bragging rights.  We were determined to get the win this year and don’t worry… everyone will hear about it! See you next year.”
