Richard Clapton Signs With Concord Music Publishing
Concord Music Publishing ANZ inks a new global publishing deal with Richard Clapton, covering key copyrights spanning the legendary Australian artist’s career.
Included in the new deal are copyrights to songs from over 20 albums, including “The Best Years of Our Lives,” “I Am An Island” and “Get Back To The Shelter.”
Having reached his half-century in music, Clapton is celebrating with two intimate anniversary shows.
The first, last Saturday (April 15) at Sydney’s State Theatre, and the second, at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on May 19.
Affectionately known as Ralph, Clapton was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1999, for his hand in writing the Australia songbook, a growing collection that spans two generations.
Clapton “is one of the greatest songwriters this country has delivered, releasing more than 20 albums over a 50-year career,” comments Jaime Gough, managing director, Concord Music Publishing ANZ. “It is a pleasure to welcome Ralph into the Concord family”.
His popularity isn’t waning, judging by the 2021 release of his covers collection Music Is Love (1966-1970), which opened at No. 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart, for his highest charting LP ever in Australia.
“I am really looking forward to a fresh new start for my publishing catalogue,” Clapton says of his new deal. “Concord is an exciting new company which I believe will re-energise my catalogue and get my songs out to a whole new audience”.
Concord Music Publishing ANZ was formed in August 2022 through Concord’s acquisition of Native Tongue, a family business based in Melbourne with staff in Sydney and Auckland.
