Revealed: 2022 Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards Hosts and Headliners
Rolling Stone New Zealand has unveiled the hosts and performers for its first annual Panhead Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards, a celebration of Aotearoa music.
Following the exciting expansion of the iconic music masthead into the country in March, the awards will take place at Glasshouse in Auckland on Wednesday, August 31st.
The nominees were confirmed last month – with huge names like Lorde, BENEE, Six60, and Crowded House earning nominations – and Rolling Stone New Zealand is now excited to announce The Edge afternoon duo Sharyn & Jayden as the ceremony’s official hosts. The pair will also broadcast their show live from the venue, giving listeners an exclusive backstage pass.
“I can’t believe that our names and Rolling Stone are in the same sentence, hosting the first ever Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards is such an honour and we can’t wait for what will be an iconic night!” Sharyn says.
“I am beyond excited for the Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards! Combining all of my favourite things; music, good times, celebrating excellence – all with Rolling Stone! What an honour, I can’t wait!” Jayden adds.
A wonderful lineup of Aotearoa artists are also confirmed to perform at the ceremony later this month, including Stan Walker & Ham Dell (Walker is also up for Best Record), Six60 (nominated for Best Single and the RS Global Award), and Rob Ruha & Ka Hao (nominated for Best Single).
“Our inaugural Rolling Stone New Zealand Awards in Aotearoa is set to be everything we intended it to be from the outset; a celebration of Kiwi music and the industry’s incredible resilience and global presence. Poppy Reid, The Brag Media Editor in Chief, says.
“The outstanding performance lineup of Rob Ruha & Ka Hao, Stan Walker & Hamo Dell, and Six60 makes the Awards one of the hottest tickets in town. And with the event being held on the final day of Te Marama Pūoru Waiata Māori – Maori Music Month, this celebration of some of Aotearoa’s biggest and best music talent is something we are immensely proud of.”
The next issue of Rolling Stone New Zealand hits newsstands on September 5th, with The Wiggles on the cover and an in-depth feature on the Awards nominees. Also appearing in the next issue are interviews with musicians Ben Lee, Eddie Benjamin and Teeks, plus Twitch streamer Whippy, and features on the climate crisis, niche influencers and much more.
