Research assistants needed for ‘Music as Medicine’ project

As part of its new partnership with Boston’s Berklee ICE: Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship, Musitec is looking for assistants for its latest comprehensive report.

Musitec, the SA Government’s music-focussed industry development cluster,has put the call out for three volunteer research assistants to work 10-15 hours per week to help with a report regarding applications of music to support health and wellness. The report paper is titled Music as Medicine (TM).

The preferred skills of applicants are:

  • Experience finding, reviewing and evaluating research;
  • Exemplary ability to create clear, concise, compelling written content;
  • Strong interest or focus of study in the applications of music in the medical field (such as music therapy), music education, music industry, technology and/or startups; Working knowledge of Google Apps (Document, Spreadsheet, Forms).

Musitec partnered with Berklee ICE in March to explore how the health and music industries intersect. Berklee ICE’s latest project is the Open Music Initiative, which focuses on the transparency of music rights and their associated uses in all forms of media. More than 50 entities, organisations, and startups across the music industry are participating in the Initiative, including YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, BMG, Tunecore and Netflix.

The collaboration between South Australian students with students from Berklee for the Music as Medicine (TM) report begins next month.

Applications are now open. Forward your CV along with covering letter to [email protected] by 5pm 31st August 2016. Students will be shortlisted and interviewed prior to selection.
