Regional Victoria’s Town Hall Crawl coming to an end
The Town Hall Crawl, a series of singing workshops across regional Victoria’s town halls through June comes to an end this Saturday (June 30).
The tour was put together by the Regional Centre for Culture (RCC).
The RCC is an initiative of the Victorian government through Creative Victoria, in partnership with the Dja Dja Wurrung Aboriginal Clans Corporation, Central Goldfields Shire, City of Greater Bendigo, Hepburn Shire and Mount Alexander Shire.
Saturday’s session starts at 10.30 am in Creswick at the Neighbourhood Centre with a vocal technique workshop by vocal teacher Merrin Torpy.
At 1pm it’s contemporary acapella with choir mistress Tara Flinn at the Clunes Town Hall.
At 3:30pm, Bendigo storyteller and Dja Dja Wurrung traditional owner Rebecca Phillips and Melbourne based choir director Eva Popov conduct the ‘Singing From Country’ at Talbot Town Hall
The session is based on a concept developed by Regional Arts Victoria and Community Music Victoria.
The day ends at Maryborough Town Hall with a finale MC’d by Castlemaine writer, director and comedian Suz Ingleton with performances by the audience plus Tara Flinn, Rebecca Phillips, Eva Popov, Merrin Torpy and guests.
