Rdio has launched the Australian instalment of Rdio Sessions, a series of live recordings exclusive to Rdio, with UK quartet The 1975.

The indie-pop band recorded acoustic versions of Sex, Is There Somebody Who Can Watch Over You and Chocolate in Sydney whilst they were here for Splendour in the Grass in July.

Paola Cracknell, Rdio Australia’s, Head of Music and Media Partnerships told TMN: “Rdio Sessions has been created to provide listeners with exclusive and intimate access to some of music’s hottest acts. Adding a new dimension to music discovery, Rdio Sessions offers listeners new, exciting content – whether its discovering new artists, or listening to your favourite band perform in a way you’ve never heard before. We’re excited to help connect Rdio’s users with a whole new range of music from the hottest established and up-and coming talent.”

The sessions are available to listen now on www.rdio.com.

Rdio Sessions launched in the US last year with acts like Passenger, City and Colour, On An On, Alpine, Shout Out Louds, and Missy Higgins. At SXSW this year Rdio recorded live shows from seven different acts with live cuts from Tensnake, Haerts, Bad Suns, Ty Dolla $ign, Lucius, Strange Talk and David Nail all contributing to the service’s playlist.

The next Australian instalment is Melbourne quartet Strange Talk. Rdio will host their sessions next week.
