Ralph Carr’s RMC Touring to be publicly examined in Supreme Court
The liquidation of talent agent Ralph Carr’s concerts division RCM Touring will be publicly examined next Monday (Feb. 10) morning in Sydney’s Supreme Court, TIO has learned.
A public examination typically allows the examiner to scrutinize the affairs of a failed company to try expose and clarify information that may assist in the winding-up of a business and to benefit its creditors.
Failure to comply runs the risk of being found in contempt of court.
The development comes nearly two years after the Federal Court of Australia ordered Carr’s touring arm be “wound up” and placed into insolvency over its debts.
Earlier, local live events firm Big Deal Touring filed an application against RCM alleging it owed $120,300 for a number of events which were invoiced between July and December of 2017.
After RCM collapsed, Andrew Spring was appointed as liquidator, according to reports published at the time.
RCM Touring handled several events in recent years, with funds reportedly still owing to Sam Righi’s Big Deal Touring after an Elvis Presley tribute concert, and the Priscilla Presley speaking engagement ‘Elvis And Me’, which proved to be “another successful venture,” reads a biog on the company’s official website.
Also, RCM Touring had been involved in a Roy Orbison hologram tour that was scheduled to go ahead in 2018 but was cancelled before it began. RCM’s legals had previously said there was “no substance” to the debt claims and that “no monies are owing” to Big Deal.
TIO reached out to Carr for comment.
Through his company Ralph Carr Management, Melbourne-based Carr has worked with a string of recording artists including Tina Arena, Kate Ceberano and Eurovision 2020 hopeful Vanessa Amorosi, along with entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins and AFL star Dustin Martin, via the businessman’s RCM Sport division.
The RCM Events arm arrived in Australia “with a bang,” reads a statement on its website, with the ‘Elvis The Wonder Of You – Live On Screen’ venture selling 50,000 tickets nationwide.
Ralph Carr Management also went on to launch a London office.
