The Beach Boys join smoothfm

The Beach Boys are set to host a series of specials on smoothfm from this Sunday June 17.

Mike LoveBruce Johnston and Al Jardine from the iconic band are hosting one-hour specials from 4 pm each Sunday.

The Beach Boys can be heard on smooth 95.3 Sydney, smooth 91.5 Melbourne and on smoothfm DAB+ from June 17 to July 1 from 4-5 pm.


SCA’s Grant Blackley fires up at Facebook advertising strategy

Facebook has recently rolled out a series of roadshows in regional towns as part of its Community Boost program, prompting a response from Southern Cross Austereo‘s Grant Blackley who has cast doubt over the purity of the social media giant’s intentions.

SCA’s chief executive is worried about the impact the roadshows could have on advertising decisions made by small-to-medium-sized businesses in attendance, with the potential to steer them away from radio.

Blackley says the ACCC needs to act on the matter as part of its world-first inquiry into Facebook and Google.


Gem Maddox & Nic Kelly launch new music show

This Week Tonight with Gem Maddox & Nic Kelly aired for the first time on Sunday evening across both Sea FM Central Coast and Hit104.7 Canberra.

The new show sees two of Australia’s most exciting young radio talents cover thought-provoking conversations posed by the world’s biggest hitmakers, while they spin the best new hits and look into their crystal ball to discover the next big thing.

It can be heard on Sundays from 6-8pm weekly.


Adelaide comedian reveals identity following Tom Ballard sexual misconduct claim

Adelaide Comedian JooYung Roberts has revealed himself as the man who accused former triple j presenter and ABC’s Tonightly host Tom Ballard of sexual misconduct last week.

Taking to Twitter Roberts wrote, “I am Tom Ballard’s accuser. I understand it can be difficult to know what to make of allegations when they come from an anonymous source, so here is a link to the Facebook post I made last Saturday.”

Roberts today told ABC News that the success of the #MeToo movement had given him the courage to make the allegations public through the media.


Carrie & Tommy hosting The Backstreet Boys in Vegas

The Hit Network is sending a lucky group of listeners to see The Backstreet Boys Live in Las Vegas.

The gig, held on The World Famous Rooftop, will be hosted by National Drive duo Carrie and Tommy

Tickets can only be won by tuning into the Hit Network’s metro and regional stations, and Oldskool Hits on Digital Radio.
