Radio Wrap: Heritage stations become Triple M, Alessia Cara’s Red Room
KOFM and 4TOFM rebrand under Triple M
Southern Cross Austereo has announced that heritage regional stations KOFM Newcastle and 4TOFM Townsville are set to relaunch under the Triple M brand.
KOFM will become Triple M Newcastle on Friday, November 9 while 4TOFM launches as Triple M Townsville on Monday, September 3.
The two stations will fall under the national Triple M Network, which will grow to 36 stations across Australia (plus four digital stations).
Both stations will continue to produce local shows and content, including Tanya and Steve in Newcastle on Breakfast, and Pricey for Breakfast in Townsville, as well as the widest variety of music, sport and comedy.
Alessia Cara next up for Nova’s Red Room
Grammy-winning Canadian pop star Alessia Cara is next up for Nova’s Red Room.
She’ll perform in Sydney on Monday, August 13 as part of a promo tour, at Forbes Street Studios.
Cara, who recently released the first single Growing Pains from her forthcoming second studio album, will perform a selection of her biggest hits.

Do Ben & Liam really sound like Hamish & Andy?
After taking over the Breakfast slot at triple j in 2017, Ben and Liam were often told they sounded a lot like Hamish and Andy, so when the former Hit duo came to the js this morning a plan was made to test the theory.
After getting Sarah on the line, Liam started the conversation before passing the line to Hamish – who admirably delivered a few comments before she cottoned that something was a bit suss.

Pacific Star Network rebrands 1377 AM to SEN+ Sport
Pacific Star Network has announced that Melbourne’s 3MP Classic Rock Radio 1377 AM will now be known as SEN+
The company’s second station in Melbourne will now feature sports content almost exclusively from Monday, August 13.
PSN managing director and Crocmedia CEO Craig Hutchison said the station will drive an additional live sports agenda to further leverage the company’s rights deals and content relationships with a variety of sporting codes.
Merrick & Rosso reunite on Game Changers: Radio
Former legacy Nova 96.9 Breakfast duo Merrick Watts and Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross are Craig Bruce‘s latest guests on the Game Changers: Radio podcast.
The boys started out in Drive at triple j, before becoming the inaugural Breakfast show on Nova 96.9 when it launched in 2001, and the duo chats about their 11-year radio tenure as a duo.
Through it all, and despite struggling not to laugh at almost everything Craig says, they do manage to give some incredibly insightful answers.
