Radio host Ryan Jon tapped for Influencers Podcast

HIT 104.7 Canberra presenter Ryan Jon has been commissioned by social-first digital agency Jaden Social and brand marketplace Tribe to host and produce the Influencers Podcast.

Launched today, the 12-episode Influencers Podcast will see Jon chat to members of the rising underworld of social influencers.

They include:

  • Jules Lund, whotalks about his move from TV and radio star to founding a tech company. He talks about where he found his passion for digital and reveals his next (surprising) passion. [LISTEN]
  • Pia Muehlenbeck, who in 12 monthswent from being a full-time lawyer without Instagram to having 1 million followers and a thriving activewear business. [LISTEN]
  • Lauren Bath,a travel photographer and Australia’s first full-time Instagrammer. [LISTEN]
  • Nic Kelly, the 20-year-old music industry entrepreneur who just inked  a landmark deal with major record label EMI. [LISTEN]

Jon said in a statement: “Everyone I’ve spoken to in this series is doing exactly what they want. It’s been fascinating to hear how people have turned hobbies and passion projects into full-time careers. It’s really impressive.”

Speaking to TMN, Jon said of his chat with Kelly: “In 2016 if you’re passionate about something, you can not only get involved, you can influence it.

“Nic is a music fan,” he added. “But he’s so passionate and vocal about music on social media that EMI have signed this 20-year-old to run a label because when he speaks, people listen. Who would have seen that sentence coming 10 years ago?”

Jaden Social CEO Jake Challenor told TMN Jon was a perfect fit for the podcast because of his past experience in the medium.

“Ryan already had an awesome podcast series called From the Internet, which I was a massive fan of. So he was the natural host for the Influencers Podcast given his genuine interest in all things social and digital,” he said.

Jon told TMN the Influencers Podcast has allowed him to create long-form one-on-one interviews that unlike breakfast radio, aren’t as ephemeral.

“Doing breakfast radio, there’s an expectation from your audience that you’re going to let them know what’s happening in their world today. So after hitting the news and covering all the topical stuff, you don’t always have time to have long conversations on any one topic or with any one person,” he said.

“The expectations are different with podcasts. I love that podcasts are available indefinitely, I still get tweets now from people who’ve just found myFrom The Internetseason from last year and I always listen to old Marc Maron or Wil Anderson podcasts.”

The first four episodes of theInfluencers Podcastare available on Inside Socialand podcast platforms includingiTunesand theOmny App.
