QMusic is recruiting a new CEO after Joel Edmondson resigns
QMusic is recruiting a new chief executive after Joel Edmondson announced he would leave the trade body after four years in the top job.
Edmondson will part on good terms with the organisation, which he has headed up since January 2015.
“I’m not really ready to express the full range of emotions I feel about this decision,” he writes in a social media post.
“But suffice to say, my time with the organisation has really been the making of me as a person, and for all the pride I feel in what we have achieved together to advance the Queensland and Australian music industry, in many respects I feel like I have been the main beneficiary, for which I am eternally humbled and grateful.”
With his departure in January, QMusic is scouting for a new boss. The music industry development association is on the lookout for “an entrepreneurial and visionary person” to fill the void.
The incoming CEO will take the reins of an organisation “enjoying a period of unprecedented growth,” QMusic explains in its recruitment ad, “and this position is a wonderful opportunity for an inspiring and committed individual to play a central role in the continuing evolution of the music industry in Queensland and beyond.”
Applications close Dec 24.
Edmondson bought to the job a full range of skills, including more than a decade’s experience in change management and change leadership roles in government and non-profit. He’s a founding member of the Brisbane DIY warehouse venue The Hangar, a distinction alumnus of the University of Edinburgh’s Institute of Music in Human and Social Development, and a music producer.
It’s unclear what challenges Edmondson will pursue, but he will stay in music. “What comes next will be announced soon,” he says.
