Program announced for SA Music Awards
Indigenous, electronic duo Electric Fields, indie-pop artist MANE and a 13-member choir are among the music lineup for this month’s sold out South Australian Music Awards (SAM Awards).
Presenting the awards alongside multi-instrumentalist Adam Page will be BIGSOUND programmer, triple j Unearthed presenter and manager, Maggie Collins.
“I can’t wait to join the legends of the amazingSouthAustralian music scene who are absolutely killing it. It’s going to be awesome to see performances from such a diverse range of artists, and celebrate the achievements of a sturdy community of music-makers,” said Collins.
Closing the night will be the Ross McHenry-assembledAdelaide All-Star Band backed by an 8-piece band including a string quartet and a 13-member choir.
Special guests joining the band include Bad//Dreems, Taasha Coates (The Audreys), Jesse Davidson, Oisima, Rin McArdle, Dusty Lee, Naomi Keyte, Kelly Menhennett, Koolta, Billy Bob and Snooks La Vie. They’ll join the band to cover all of the 2016 Best Song Nominees.
Up for Best Song this year are:
Bad//Dreems – Cuffed & Collared
Motez ft. Tkay Maidza – Down Like This
Skies – Speed Boy
Tkay Maidza – Ghost
West Thebarton Brothel Party – Red or White
The Awards’ 400 guests will be treated to a formal sit down three-course meal, a first for the Awards which has a history that dates back to over a decade.
Music SA took over the running of the awards in 2015 rebranding it to the SAM Awards. The Awards were previously known as the Fowler’s Live Music Awards, set up by the Fowler’s Live music venue in 2012.
The 2016 SAM Awards will be held at the Norwood Concert Hall on Nov 11.
