PPCA and Aus Council offering artists $15K grants
Global exports like Courtney Barnett, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Mia Dyson and KUCKA have all benefitted from the perfect marriage that is the PPCA and Australia Council partnership.
For the fifth year, the two industry bodies are offering five $15,000 grants to assist Australian artists create new recordings.
Courtney Barnett used the grant money to assist in the recording of her ARIA-winning LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, and Mia Dyson used the $15,000 to record and release three EPs over 12 months back in 2015.
Applications for the initiative close March 7 and are open now to individual artists for projects starting after June 25 this year. Bands can apply, however one member must be nominated to apply on their behalf.

Dan Rosen, PPCA Chief Executive Officer said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer these grants and contribute to the range and diversity of Australian music. The applications last year were incredibly strong and a great indication of the quality and depth of our local recording artists.
“We look forward to working with the Australia Council again to help more local artists realise their musical ambitions.”
