Peter Noble presents Kasey Chambers with Bluesfest ‘Star’ Award

After delivering a captivating hour of alt-country rock magic late Saturday evening on the Crossroads stage at Bluesfest, Kasey Chambers was presented with a Bluesfest ‘Star’ award.

The multi-award winner was recognised for her contribution to the festival and the Australian music landscape though-out her career.

Joining Chambers on stage at the conclusion of her set, Festival Director Peter Noble shared his appreciation for the country star’s long-standing service over the years.

Returning the sentiment of gratitude, Chambers in admiration told the crowd, “I owe my career to this man”.

Chambers then thanked Noble for giving her a chance and programming her two decades earlier, offering her a huge platform to share her music and kick-start her career. Returning as a headliner years later, the moment was overwhelming, bringing both Chambers and Noble to tears.

Earlier in the set, between bringing out The War and Treaty and Ben Harper to the stage, Chambers told a tale about a pair of young twins who came to one of her shows when she toured her debut album The Captain. The twins perched at the front of the stage and sang every word of the album back at her.

Chambers then went on to share that she reconnected with those twins years later before introducing The Veronicas to the stage to sing the LP title track ‘The Captain’.

Inspiring the next generation of musicians, Chambers has undoubtedly cemented herself as an Australian music icon.
