Peermusic Australia Signs Triple One
Peermusic Australia, the local affiliate of peermusic, the worldwide independent music publishing group, signs Triple One — the multi-dimensional act out of Sydney.
Through this new global deal, peermusic Australia will represent Triple One’s entire back catalogue and future works.
It’s the first time Triple One has signed to a music publisher.
Triple One is comprised of rappers Marty Bugatti and Obi III Terrors, with hooks by singer Lil Dijon and production from Billy Gunns.
Emerging from Sydney’s inner-west with a fully-formed sound blending hip-hop, punk and alternative — and covering a lot of musical turf — Triple One sucked-up millions of streams for early singles “Doozy” and “Overflow.”
The breakthrough came with the 2019 single “Butter,” which certified gold, enjoyed traction at radio and opened the doors for a debut U.K. and Europe tour, and sold out shows across their homeland.
From 2017 and 2019, three EPs dropped.
Then, in 2020, the band’s debut LP Panic Force, which debuted at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and was crowned the triple j “Feature Album of the Week.”
At that point, the foursome had issued 23 singles, including collaborations with Matt Corby, Kwame and Chillinit.
Triple One supported Panic Force with a national tour, squeezed in-between lockdowns.
In 2022, the act sold-out its 10-date regional Come Over jaunt, landed a spot on Splendour in the Grass, and their second single “So Easy” went gold.
Title track “Come Over” was released in the U.S. via Virgin Music, and followed the single “Blood Rave,” which was added to rotation on FBi Radio and triple j, as well as earning the group a cover spot on Spotify’s The Hybrid playlist.
“Triple One has everything we look for in our signings—a unique sound, creative vision and a strong work ethic. We are honored that they have entrusted us with their publishing,” said Ralph W. Peer, who last October was appointed managing director of peermusic Australia, expanding his role within the business to oversee all creative and administrative operations in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and New Guinea.
“We’re driven to maintain high standards for the peermusic roster as we continue to sign contemporary repertoire in the Australian region. The signing of Triple One is a reflection of that.”
Peer is the son of Ralph Peer II, current executive chair of peermusic, and the grandson of Ralph S. Peer, the company’s founder.
“We’re really excited to be partnering with the world-class peermusic team. We’re continuing to go against the grain and elevate what we do.”
The support of Kathy Spanberger, president and COO, peermusic Anglo American Region; Peer; and the entire team “has got us even more fired up for what’s to come,” says Triple One’s Conor Grealish, aka Obi Ill Terrors.
Peermusic boasts a network of 38 offices in 31 countries and claims to be one of the largest privately held companies of its kind.
The business also represents a range of clients for sub-publishing in the region, including Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd; Sugar Music; Big Machine Music LLC; Soundgarden; Modern Works; and St. Nicolas Music.
