Pandora launches first app on Microsoft Xbox One in US
Music streaming service Pandora has launched its first app on Microsoft’s Xbox One in the US.
Part of a holiday app bundle that includes services from Vevo, Bravo Now, Telemundo Now and Popcornflix, Pandora has designed the new app specifically with the living room in mind. It features a mini player that remains visible as users explore the app, as well as an alternative view that shows one’s total listening time for each station.
The company stated in a blog post that Pandora “takes advantage of all the functionality” the Xbox One offers. Gamers can snap the service to the side of their TV screen so they can listen to music and play simultaneously. The app also comes equipped with built in Kinect voice and movement controls.
2014 has already seen an influx of apps hit Microsoft’s latest console and this latest addition should fit in well considering that 76% of Pandora’s male listeners aged 13-34 that identify themselves as console gamers use the streaming service to provide background music while gaming.
