The festival will see frequent collaborators Big K.R.I.TandDevin The Dude perform in Australia for the first time, and as Co-director Vichara Edirisinghe told TMN, they won’t be the only debut appearance on the bill.

“We're always looking to continually break the mould and provide something fresh in the market with our festival,so there willbe many more acts making their debut in Aus yet to be announced.”

Since its first run in 2012 OutsideIn has featured a largely international lineup, from UK’s Zomby on the inaugural event, to US hip hop group The Pharcyde last year to Philadelphia crooner Bilal this year. According to Edirisinghe it’s not unheard of for international acts to be financially more favourable than local acts.

“These days thestrengthof our local artists means that sometimes it'sactuallycheaper to getinternational artists – not that this really affects our decision-making but definitely some food for thought.”

This year already features four local acts with Perth’s KUČKA, Sydney twins Cosmo’s Midnight, Melbourne’s Harvey Sutherland and Melbourne quintet Total Giovanni.

Edirisinghe also told TMN OutsideIn will eventually go national: “Once we've nailed the Sydney leg we'll be looking to take it interstate,” he said.

OutsideIn’s organisers will drip-feed another 20 international and local acts over the coming weeks.

The one-dayfestival returns to Manning House for the second time on Saturday September 26.Early bird tickets have sold out.
