On The Dial: Tim Lee and Biggzy return, new home for Hobart radio stations

Tim Lee and Biggzy back soon

Earlier this year, former Hot 30 duo Tim Lee and Carla ’Biggzy’ Bignasca announced they were ’getting the band back together’.

The pair started a Facebook page and said they wanted to return to the airwaves as a team.

Last night, something interesting appeared on that page, a banner stating ’Tim Lee and Biggsy. Coming to a radio near you soon’.

He told Radio Today: “More details to come at the end of the month, which gives everyone plenty of time to download iHeartRadio.”

It’s been four years since Lee and Bignasca were last on air together. The pair hosted the Hot 30 for three years.

Lee is currently the Online Content Producer for Mix 101.1 and Bignasca is on TV as a contributor for Seven’s The Morning Show and The Daily Edition.

Kids break into radio station and swear on air

A group of kids has broken into a remote WA radio station and broadcast an impromptu late-nights show.

The kids, aged eight to 14, had been taught studio basics from the manager of the Wangki Yupurnanupurru community radio station in Fitzroy Crossing and they used those skills to go live to air.

Unfortunately, there was one lesson the kids hadn’t learnt – no swearing in the studio – and police were called when their expletive-ridden jokes offended a listener.

Station manager Angie Stahl told the ABC: “They were able to turn on all the microphones, turn on the panel and switch everything on in the right way, and decided to do a bit of a show themselves.”

“But unfortunately their show mainly involved swearing, which was a bit punk, a bit avant-garde, but also breaches the broadcasting laws, and our codes of practice.”

Stahl said rather than press charges against the minors, their parents and elders would have them perform ‘sorry tasks’.
