On The Dial: Three Way Battle for CHR; Changes and additions at Mix; ARN takes out top honours
There isn’t room for 3 CHR’s in Sydney
By Brad March
The 3 way CHR / Top 40 battle in Sydney can’t last forever. The battle between 2Day, Kiis and Nova for the hit music position has been underway now for nine months since Kyle & Jackie defected and ARN re-branded Mix to Kiis.
Kiis having the most powerful, strongest and “heritage” breakfast show in the market will continue to do well.
The real contest is between 2Day v Nova. We can probably expect further changes both on air and off air following next week’s Survey 6 ratings result.
Changes and additions at Mix 101.1
Melbourne’s Mix 101.1 has a few new additions and changes to the team.
First up in Mornings, Ben Erbsland has joined the On-Air team. Erbsland was with SCA’s Star 104.9 breakfast in Albury. Erbsland also worked with SCA in Mackay and prior, some casual stuff at Nova Adelaide.
He replaces Jess Capolupo on the 9 to 12 shift. It’s Erbsland’s first shift today.
ARN Melbourne’s next new addition is Chrissie Maus. Chrissie is moving across from Perth to take on the role of Breakfast Producer with Chrissie & Jane from September 29. Chrissie has been with Nova 93.7 since 2012. Prior, she was with Channel 7 as Events and Marketing Manager for the Telethon; after a long run with SCA’s Mix 94.5 in promotions, marketing and publicity.
Chrissie is replacing Darren Harding. Darren is moving into the Melbourne Integration team with the company.
ARN takes out top honours for Marketing Excellence
ARN has taken home top honours at the 2014 AMI awards for the launch of KIIS 1065.
It was named Australian Marketing Institute winner of its category at the NSW finals.
ARN were announced as a state finalist a couple of weeks ago and was named NSW state winner in the category of “New Brand, Product or Service Launch”, for the launch of KIIS 1065.
Judges said: “The KIIS1065 launch achieved stellar results, with an outstanding use of multiple channels to reach the target audience.”
With that, they are now a finalist at the National Awards to be held on October 23 in Sydney.
