The KIIS gamble
by Nikole Gunn
There are always a few nerves ahead of survey day – more so when it’s the book one survey. But this year, there’s a bit more riding on it for ARN.In just 24 hours, it’ll find out whether the KIIS gamble has paid off in Melbourne.
ARN has invested a lot of time, effort and money in launching KIIS 101.1, the new station rising from the ashes of the somewhat dated and ‘daggy’ Mix brand.
Thomas: "smooth will be #1"
Nova Entertainment's smoothfm will be the #1 ranked FM station, according to Group Marketing Director Tony Thomas.
Thomas, speaking with The Australian, said that in a cluttered media landscape with competitors who are "still working out what they’re going to call their stations and whether to new launch new shows," smoothfm is making an emotional connection and developing loyal listeners.
Thomas was speaking as NE launch the new marketing campaign in Sydney and Melbourne for the smooth brand.
Craig Bruce on hit105
After 25 years Brisbane’s b105 is no more.
March 6th was the day that hit105 finally arrived.
We caught up with Southern Cross Austereo's Head of Content Craig Bruce about the move. Covering off why it took so long and what's next for the Today Hit Network.
Farewell B105 …… The End of a Brand and the End of an Era
by Brad March
Recently b105 had its 25th anniversary. I was fortunate to be the Program Director who led the team that launched B105 25 years ago.
In 1990 b105 made radio history when it debuted in the #1 position following the move from 4BK (AM) to b105 (FM).
And now b105 is no more, Southern Cross Austereo has rebranded it as hit105.
Kiis 101.1 gets its party on
There’s a bit of a buzz around ARN Melbourne. A sense of excitement and purpose that had been a bit thin on the ground when Mix 101.1 was on air.
But the perennial underdog has morphed into a funkier and edgier Kiis 101.1. This is a station that is being allowed to let its hair down and have a bit of fun.
Just weeks after its official launch party, Kiis has kicked off its Live Laneways Gigs in Melbourne’s CBD.
