You can hear the audio of the announcement made this morning to the Adelaide market here.
Denton: Keynote Speaker at National Radio Conference
He is one of Australia’s most innovative and prolific creators of entertainment, knows just a little about being a top rating Breakfast talent and he is widely recognised as one of Australian television’s indisputable creative minds.
Andrew Denton is keynote speaker at this year’s National Radio Conference – #CRAconf – in Melbourne on Friday.
Denton’s session is titled Giving Head Jobs to Cobras.
Officially “in retirement” since the sale of his production company, Andrew Denton said: “Cumes, sweeps, relatability, Klout – I will be talking about absolutely none of these things. I will be talking about creative joy and how to find it. And I’ll chuck in a few radio horror stories just to keep you interested.”
His keynote outline says he will be drawing on his extensive experience working around people who actually knew what they were doing. He will also give his top 1072 tips for making it all the way to the middle in the media without losing any of your inner arsehole. The session comes with the warning: This talk contains name-drops and traces of Randling.
CRA has also released the official program for the National Radio Conference, which starts Friday in Melbourne.
SCA Management Changes
Southern Cross Austereo hasw made a change in their management structure, dividing the metro and regional businesses.
Guy Dobson has been appointed Executive Director of Metropolitan Operations, and Rick Lenarcic takes the position of Executive Director of Regional Operations.
Guy and Rick will oversee the content, innovation, client solutions, and lead teams of national specialists plus local general managers from a strategic and operational perspective.
Guy Dobson, Executive Director of Metropolitan Operations said, “I’m so looking forward to leading a dynamic reinvigorated metro business structure into 2015. We have the most talented people in Australia on our team, with this new structure, a dedicated team focusing on metro solutions and similarly a specialist team focusing on our regional assets, SCA is going to power into the New Year. There are some exciting moves in play that we can’t wait to unleash upon the business.”
Report Card: Nova Entertainment
Nova Entertainment has, since its launch by Paul Thompson and DMGT 15 years ago, through to its current ownership by Lachlan Murdoch’s Illyria, always been a privately held company. This has meant that unlike the other major metropolitan networks (ARN, SCA and Fairfax) whose results are available bi-annually due to their publicly listed owners, the Nova Entertainment business is comparatively discreet.
In a report published by Bob Peters Global Media Analysis, we are privy to the performance of Nova Entertainment, and reveal for the first time publicly significant details about the business.
Kim leaving Heart 107.3 Hobart Breakfast team
She has been part of the Hobart market for over 20 years and as December rolls around, Kim Napier is leaving the Kim & Dave breakfast show on Heart 107.3.
Right across the weekend Heart launched teaser promos’s and a video on Sunday, hooking a big announcement from Kim & Dave at 8am this morning; that things were about to change.
Kim Napier said, “I will miss the Kim and Dave Show, our listeners and the city. It’s my home town but I am excited about the next chapter in my life and whatever that brings, it will always include Dave. We are like family having invested 20 years in each other’s lives so I can’t imagine that not continuing.”
