Rod Maldon heads OS
Rod Maldon, CD of SCA’s Hobart stations Sea FM and Heart 107.3 is heading off overseas. He is joining the NZME ranks, as the new Assistant Content Director of ZM, based in Auckland in 2015.
Maldon told Radio Today, "Thrilled to join some of the most exciting young teams in the nation and work across New Zealand on the ZM brand. "I leave January 10 for Auckland starting on Monday January 12. I am working in Hobart over Christmas and have some planning to mark off, will be organising my move in between. Looking forward to joining Sarah Gandy and Mike McClung to ramp ZM back into some large numbers in all markets".
NZ isn’t Maldon’s first overseas posting, having worked at Dubai 92. His career has seen him work at a number of SCA properties both On-Air and in programming including Triple M Sydney, 929, SAFM, FOX and 919 SEA FM amongst the list.
Pete Curulli: He’s back!
Pete Curulli returns to the airwaves from January. Being Perth local and from a big Italian family, he headed home in 2013 after doing mornings on b105, now his days will start a little later.
Curulli will be the new voice joining Lisa Shaw in Drive at mix94.5.
"I am really genuinely excited about the Drive show in 2015. Pete has an energy I'd like to bottle and sell on eBay, “He already feels like my 'brother from another mother' as the saying goes, and I can't wait to see what good-natured strife that gets us into,” said Shaw.
mix94.5 Content Director Erica Hodge says she can’t wait to hear Lisa and Pete on her drive home. “Lisa’s quick wit and Pete’s energy and enthusiasm will be an intoxicating mix!”
Tim Lordan will return to mornings with Ross Edwards covering afternoon. “I’d also like to pay tribute to Tim Lordan for balancing a demanding off-air role with the drive co-host position this year, after Fred Botica’s departure in May."
“Simone Heng has decided to take up further opportunities in Asia but will remain a fixture on mix94.5 weekends,” said Erica.
All changes take place January 12.

Commercial Radio Australia: The Year in Review
Commercial Radio Australia is headed up by CEO Joan Warner. It’s the industry's peak body. 2014 has been a year of firsts.Amongst the list of achievements: a new Metro survey provider with GfK including new Gold Standard software, New Regional Radio Survey methodology introduced, and we have seen some big increases with Digital Radio listening. But it's not all smooth sailing either, a few challenges lay ahead, be it internet streaming and the battle with the PPCA or the rollout of DAB+ to regional markets.
