Radio ad revenue up in all markets
Advertising revenue on commercial radio has increased in all markets during December.
Total revenue hit $53.977m, which has risen 1.84% compared to the same period in 2012.
The Perth market recorded the greatest rise: up 3.71% to $8.003m, while Brisbane rose 3.02% to $8.607m.
Sydney grew 2.29% to $15.884m, with Melbourne up slightly, 0.46% to $16.447m.
Most promisingly, Adelaide’s advertising has grown after two down months – up 0.18% to $5.036m.

Kyle & Jackie O unleashed
Kyle & Jackie O have spoken for the first time since leaving 2Day FM. In an interview for the Sunday Telegraph, they let fly at Southern Cross Austereo management, the new 2Day breakfast show, and at naysayer Merrick Watts.

Byron Cooke moves into Fox workday
With Michael Christian moving into the anchor role of the new Today network drive show, Dan & Maz (which started yesterday afternoon), there was a gap in the Fox workday. Sliding into the morning shift will be former Fifi & Jules anchor Byron Cooke, who started on air yesterday.
3AW farewell Justin Smith
3AW’s Justin Smith has finished up at the station after eleven years as producer for Neil Mitchell. On his last day at the station they chatted about his move.
“All the best, I want to wish you well, of course, and to thank you. We’ve had a very successful eleven years on air, and you’ve been a huge part of that, you’ve made it happen,” said Mitchell.
“Just straighten them out up there in Sydney, would you? Thank you for everything you’ve done, I wish you all the success up there.”
Former Mix 106.5 PD scores 2Day gig
Ryan Rathbone, the former Mix 106.5 Program Director who left ARN early in December after not having his contract renewed, has scored a gig at 2Day FM.
Ryan will be the Assistant Content Director to 2Day CD Donna Puechmarin.
This role was previously held by Adam Williscroft. Adam will now extend his NSW regional group role to cover all of SCA’s 80+ regional stations, working on both the Today and Local Works streams.
MOVES
RN Friday Drive will be hosted in 2014 by Dr Rebecca Huntley. She replaces Julian Morrow.
Steve Barker has performed his final shift on 4BH before the station changed to Magic 882.
Ryan Rathbone, the former Mix 106.5 Program Director, is the new Assistant Content Director at 2Day FM.
Adam Williscroft will drop his ACD role at 2Day FM and will extend his NSW regional group role to now cover all of SCA’s 80+ regional stations.
Alexander Agishev (Alex Dean), who once worked at ARN, dmg and SCA, has moved from a Group Programming Consultant role at MMH in Russia to be PD of Best FM in Moscow. He will also continue consulting work for the group.
Matt Argoon is leaving Mix 94.5 Perth (SCA) and is moving home to Melbourne to be the Audio Producer for Chrissie & Jane on Mix 101.1 (ARN).
AFTRS graduate Alice Moldovan has scored a gig as a field reporter for the ABC in Alice Springs.
