Report Card: Australian Radio Network
Bob Peters from Global Media Analysis runs the ruler across the Australian Radio Network's financial performance and finds it to be 'a beautiful set of numbers'.
Peters’ report is published below:
In the current slow-growing economic environment where total advertising revenues are rising at only low single digit rates, it is rare to find a traditional media operation which manages to increase its audiences by 10% and its advertising revenues by almost twice that rate within a twelve month period. However that is precisely the performance which the Australian Radio Network (ARN) generated from its Australian radio operations in calendar year 2014 (CY 2014), producing what former federal treasurer Peter Costello might have described as being “a beautiful set of numbers”.
10 Years for WS FM’s Jonesy & Amanda
2005 was the year WS FM’s Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones & Amanda Keller hit the breakfast airwaves together for the first time. The pair threw the Party of the Decade Friday with one lucky listener wining a new Peugeot and a chance at $1 million.
How a Brisbane radio station changed Australian Radio as we know it
By Liam Renton
B105 held its 25 year reunion party on the weekend with a star studded past alumni of the who's who of Australian radio making an appearance.
Former Austereo & DMG (now Nova Entertainment) Founder Paul Thompson, Sam Thompson, Brad March, Brian Ford, Rex Morris, Jamie Dunn, Ian Skippen, Donna Lynch, Robyn Bailey, Jamie Angel, Paul Davies, David Rymer, Kylie Blucher, Ben Dark, Chris ‘Becko’ Beckhouse, Kieran Atkinson, Jason Staveley, plus over two decades of Black Thunder Pilots, mid dawn announcers who went onto bigger things and a swag of support staff who made things tick all descended on the Paddo tavern for what was a great night. Two amazing speeches set the tone and reminded us of the importance of the little station in Brisbane who toppled the juggernaut FM104 in its first survey.
