2 breakfast hosts leave 92.9

Lisa Fernandez and Paul Hogan have announced their departure from the SCA Perth breakfast show ‘Lisa, Paul & Baz’.

Lisa, who has previously worked with Nova 919 Adelaide and Triple M Brisbane, wishes to spend more time with her daughter Isabella. MORE

Paul says he came to Perth to work with Lisa and with her now leaving he has decided to depart as well. MORE

Is Kyle bluffing, or moving?

There have been rumours circulating for a fortnight or so around the industry that dmg is looking to poach the Kyle & Jackie O show for Nova 96.9.

Now, the Daily Telegraph has become the first to report them.

However, all parties involved have strongly denied it.

Nova has said that they have not spoken to the pair in any capacity, whilst Sandilands has said that he has ’definitely not had discussions with Nova’. SCA has said that they do not make public comment on negotiations.

However unlikely, there are a few clues that fuel the rumour-mill. READ MORE

Matt & Jo exit Fox FM after 10 years

After 10 years doing breakfast at Fox FM, Friday morning Matt & Jo announced that they will finish with the station at the end of the survey year.

Fox FM’s Matt Tilley is Australia’s longest running, most successful FM Breakfast star.

Tilley said; “we’ve been blessed to have the most wonderful audience and to do the most wonderful things…it’s exciting for us to go out with a bang.

Late last year Matt talked to Brad March in a Radio Today exclusive. He spoke about how he originally got into radio, his honest opinions about Alan Jones and Kyle Sandilands and how he put together the hugely successful Fox Breakfast show on a daily basis with on air partners Jo Stanley and anchor Troy Ellis.

Could Fairfax & Macquarie merge ?

A ’friendly merger’ between Fairfax Radio and the Macquarie Radio Network (MRN) could be back on.

If the merger was to go ahead, this would mean change in the Sydney market, with a station needing to be sold unless media regulation rules are changed before the merger occurs. MRN own 2GB and 2CH in the Sydney market, with Fairfax operating 2UE. READ MORE

Charlie Pickering to host ACRAs

Commercial Radio Australia have announced that Charlie Pickering from The Project will host the ACRAs this Saturday night.

“I’m really looking forward to catching up with some mates from radio and seeing Australia’s best breakfast DJ’s stay up well past their bedtime,” said Charlie.

Award presenters for the night will include :

• Fifi and Jules (Today)

• Fitzy and Wippa (Nova 96.9)

• Neil Mitchell & Paul Murray (Fairfax)

Radio revenue grows again

The metropolitan radio market has grown again, for the eighth consecutive month, with an increase of 2.3% in September when compared to the same month in 2012.

The total advertising spend for September reached $57.7m across the five capital cities, with Perth leading the way.

2UE, 3AW & Triple M move into cricket

After 80 years of exclusivity, the ABC is no longer the only radio brand to broadcast Test cricket in Australia.

Starting with this summer’s Ashes, 2UE and 3AW will commentate the Test cricket, whilst Triple M has obtained the rights to call the Twenty20 Big Bash League matches.

It is believed that the 2UE & 3AW coverage will be a commentary of the matches, whilst Triple M’s will be reflecting the Big Bash, but not commentating.

Hinch guilty of breaching court suppression order

Former 3AW drive host Derryn Hinch has been found guilty of breaching a court suppression order over information he published on his Human Headline website about the Jill Meagher case.

On his site, Hinch detailed Adrian Ernest Bayley’s earlier rape convictions plus other information the courts deemed to be in breach of the order.

Hinch’s lawyer defended the claims, saying the website only had 797 individual views over a 4 day period when the suppression order was in place. READ MORE

92.9’s Paul Hogan has announced he is leaving the Perth breakfast show.

Lisa Fernandez has announced that she is leaving the 92.9 Breakfast show ’Lisa, Paul & Baz” in Perth.

After 10 years at Fox FM, Matt & Jo will finish with the station at the end of the survey year.

Jeff ’Flounce’ Nielsen has been appointed to the newly created role of Imaging Producer for Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast.

SCA Canberra Content Director Drew Chapman is leaving to join River 949 in Ipswich, Queensland as their Program / Content Director.
