Mix breakfast sign off: ’The Bunch is outta here’

After 21 years on Perth radio, Mix 94.5’s The Bunch aired their final breakfast show on Friday.

Fred Botica and Lisa Shaw will move to drive in 2014 with Captain Paul remaining on the new breakfast show. Clairsy, Shane & Kymba started this morning. Hear the last half hour from The Bunch. READ MORE

96FM PD takes new role with Fairfax

Still in Perth, Brad McNally, the Program Director of Perth’s #1 radio station 96FM, has taken a new role within Fairfax Radio.

McNally will now oversee the development of all music stations within the network: 96FM, Melbourne’s Magic 1278, and Brisbane’s 4BH. READ MORE

Morrison exits 2UE

Following a year of declining ratings at 2UE in Sydney, Fairfax Radio has told Drive host Jason Morrison that he will not be part of the station’s lineup in 2014.

In further possible changes for 2UE, mornings host Paul Murray is no certainty to return next year, despite having a further two years on his contract. READ MORE

4BC drive host not part of 2014 lineup

Brisbane station 4BC has announced that drive presenter Gary Hardgrave won’t have his contract renewed and will leave the station at the end of 2013. Hardgrave had been with the station for three years.

4BC is now looking for a new drive host for 2014. An announcement will be made in the coming months.

This comes a month after morning presenter Greg Cary announced his departure. READ MORE

MRN consider action over ACMA’s 2GB finding

Following the finding by the ACMA that ruled 2GB and Alan Jones breached accuracy and complaints handling obligations, the Macquarie Radio Network are considering taking further action against the watchdog.

MRN’s Managing Director Rob Loewenthal says: “The findings on factual accuracy represent a departure from the ACMA’s previous position that 2GB could assume that an article published in the mainstream media was accurate.’’ READ MORE 

Fiveaa PD exits, dmg restructure 

Brad Hulme has resigned from his role as Fiveaa Program Director, effective immediately.

Hulme has programmed the dmg Radio talk station in Adelaide since mid-2010, coming from his role as EP of vega 91.5’s breakfast show which he did for a couple of years. Brad has said he wishes to explore other opportunities within the media.

Brad’s wife, Irene Hulme, was PD of Nova 919 and most recently APD of Nova 96.9 until a few months ago when she also decided to leave the network.

dmg have now made the decision to restructure the programming departments in Adelaide and have appointed Nova 919 PD Dave Shearer to oversee both Nova and Fiveaa. READ MORE

Kate Ritchie to join Tim & Marty on Nova drive

Word is ex-Nova 96.9 breakfast co-host Kate Ritchie will be the one to replace Meshel Laurie on Nova national drive, when she moves to Nova 100 breakfast.

Ritchie started working for Nova in early 2008 when she became part of the Merrick & Rosso breakfast show. She still makes regular appearances, often filling in when Fitzy & Wippa are on holidays, doing the show with Sam Mac. READ MORE

Star 104.5 on the Central Coast have appointed Sophia Lazarides as their breakfast news journo. She was most recently a producer for Sunrise.

Former B105 Morning Crew producer Adam Waldock is joining Nova 106.9 to be EP for Ash, Kip & Luttsy.

Replacing Adam Straney as morning announcer at Wave FM will be Ilana Pender-Rose. She is currently a traffic reporter at ATN and a casual announcer at MIX FM Canberra. Ilana starts November 4.

Steve Goode has resigned as 7HO FM’s Music Director/Announcer

After five months in his role as Sami & Yumi’s EP on Mix 106.5, Mitch Braund has finished up working on the show and is returning to Brisbane to be closer to his family.
