Kyle & Jackie O for Sydney/Melbourne breakfast?
Rumours sweeping the radio industry are that Kyle and Jackie O will be networked in Melbourne and Sydney on ARN’s Mix Network next year.
ARN are looking into re-branding the stations to fit with the new talent lineup. A source close to the ARN project suggests a change in the station brand name may be on the cards, and that one consideration is to adopt the ’Kiss FM’ brand. READ MORE
Fifi & Dave – the new Fox FM breakfast show
Fifi Box is moving to host Fox FM breakfast with Dave Thornton from 2014, replacing the long running Matt & Jo.
Fox FM Content Director Dave Cameron said: “There’s not many times you get to launch a brand new show with such seasoned, experienced professionals that have massive national profiles. That’s a once in a lifetime combination I reckon. Do you reckon I’m excited by that ? Absolutely !

NZ hosts finish 2013 early after controversy
Last week, NZ RadioLive hosts Willie Jackson and co-host John Tamihere found themselves in hot water and needing to apologise over an interview they conducted with a friend of an alleged victim of the Roast Busters group.
After an online campaign, many advertisers of the MediaWorks station then suspended their campaigns.

Race tightens in Gold Coast survey 3
The third and final survey for 2013 has been released on the Gold Coast.
While Gold FM remain on top, they have dropped by 1.1 to 15.1%, with second placed Sea FM falling 1.6 to 14.5%. Third placed Hot Tomato was the only station of the three to increase share; up 1.1 to an overall share of 13.4%.
The new Hot Tomato breakfast show, Flan & Emily Jade, has seen an increase of 1%, now on 12.3%, whilst both of the Sea and Gold breakfast shows both lost share. READ MORE
Mark Aiston quits Mix 102.3 breakfast
One third of the #1 FM breakfast show in Adelaide, Jodie, Mark & Snowy, has quit.
Mark Aiston has been part of the Mix 102.3 show for two years, after replacing TV news personality John Riddell.
With Keith Conlon leaving Fiveaa, it is possible the new breakfast show on the dmg Radio talk station could be helmed by Aiston and Jane Reilly. Both have worked together at TEN for a number of years. READ MORE
2GB’s Fordham talks about 2UE’s Morrison
Late last week Paul Murray spoke on 2UE about the sacking of drive host Jason Morrison.
Over on 2GB, their drive host Ben Fordham also weighed in on Morrison’s departure while talking to Michael Smith.
Fordham revealed he has invited Jason to co-host an hour of his old 2GB drive show later in the year. READ MORE
Magic 1278 Manager resigns
Gary Hoffman, Station Manager of Magic 1278, has resigned from his role at the Fairfax station.
Hoffman has been at Magic for 16 years. Fairfax Melbourne GM Shane Healy has told staff he “has been an excellent leader who has displayed enormous passion for the radio station he loves greatly.” READ MORE
Another month of growth for ad revenue
Metropolitan commercial radio stations have registered their ninth consecutive month of growth in advertising revenue in October.
Total revenue reached $62.303m, a slight improvement of 0.54% on the same period in 2012.
By market, Sydney reported the largest increase, up 3.15% to $19.293m, Melbourne rose 1% to $19.009m, Perth improved 0.52% to $8.511m, Brisbane is up 0.15% to $9.986m, while Adelaide was the only market to slip, that market is down 8.33% to $5.505m. READ MORE
Digital radio listening hits high
Digital radio listening in Australia has reached a high of 12.7%, or more than 1.6 million people listening each week, according to stats from Survey 7. The number of digital radios sold continues to rise with 87,555 devices sold in Q3 2013.
Time Spent Listening (TSL) to radio via a digital radio is now 12 hours, more than double that of TSL to radio via the internet which sits at just over 5.5 hours. READ MORE
Community radio release their survey stats
The CBAA (Community Broadcasting Association of Australia) recently conducted a national listener survey.
The main stat showed that an average 29% of radio listeners (15+) tune into community radio each week.
The survey claims that 5,204,000 people out of 18,109,000 Australians aged 15+ listened to community radio in the survey week – a listenership up nearly by 15% on last year. READ MORE

Todd Gray, a radio student at the Central Institute of Technology in Perth, is now a casual jock at 96FM.
Another AFTRS Radio student has scored their first gig. Harry Dodshon is the new afternoon announcer/production person at Hot 100 in Darwin.
Current AFTRS Radio student Ashleigh Blucher has just landed her first gig at Power FM in Bega as their mornings announcer/promotions.
SCA have appointed KOFM announcer and Music Director Jacqui Kassulke as their new Digital Operations/Music Director.
Louise Evans, Manager of ABC Radio National, is leaving after 6 months in the job.
Replacing Flack to produce the new 92.9 breakfast show, Heidi, Will & Woody, will be NZ radio’s Chris Reeder
