Survey 5 released : triple j #1 in Perth

The results for Survey 5 last Tuesday showed a tough day for a couple of the networks. Traditionally, election periods are not great for music stations, however are positive for talk stations, and that appeared to broadly be the case.

The big news was triple j going #1 overall in Perth.

2NSB invoice Nova for copyright violation

Sydney community station 2NSB has issued an invoice to the Nova network for what it refers to as unauthorised broadcasting of their copyrighted material. Read more

Digital trials in Darwin & Canberra extended

The ACMA has extended the DAB+ digital radio trials in Canberra and Darwin by an additional 12 months. Read more

Peter Dick exits 4BC

4BC announced the resignation of Peter Dick, the co-host of Breakfast, who is leaving the station for health reasons. Read more

Triple M to pay Boof’s ICC fine

When Darren ’Boof’ Lehmann joined The Grill Team on Triple M Sydney, he made some comments about English cricketer Stuart Broad that the ICC determined to have breached their code of conduct, so they fined him 20% of his match payment, said to be $3,000.

Triple M wasn’t prepared to let Boof take all the blame for something that happened on their station, so the Grill Team and the Hot Breakfast will pay the fine on his behalf. Read more

On Perth community radio station RTR FM last week, the Australian Greens launched a $27 million package to support community radio and TV. Read more

RADIO TODAY – MOVES

James Perrin, Content Manager and Breakfast presenter of 1041 Territory FM, is heading to Victoria’s surf coast to work for Grant Broadcasters.

Hayden Naughton is leaving Sea FM Hobart to replace Dan Hill on NXFM Newcastle as their morning announcer. He will also do weekend shifts on 2Day FM.

Lucy Morling has moved from SCA Hobart to work in tactics at Triple M Melbourne.

With Gemma O’Neill leaving on maternity leave from the Kyle & Jackie O Show in November, Simon Greally is returning to the show as EP.

4BC breakfast host Peter Dick has resigned due to health reasons.

Chris Rieger is now a Creative Writer / Floater at K-Rock and Bay FM in Geelong. Chris has previously worked for ARN, RG Capital, and he once did work experience at Bay FM in the 90s.

ex-Austereo and Hot Tomato programmer Rob McCasker is making a return to radio as a creative writer at Power FM and 3BA in Ballarat.

2UE evenings host Murray Wilton will leave the station later this year to take up a job as General Manager (Agriculture) with the Royal Agricultural Society.

Andy Mathers has been appointed as General Manager of Grant Broadcasters K-Rock and Bay-FM in Geelong, replacing Dean Anglin who resigned last month.
