Fitzy & Wippa re-sign with Nova

Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa have re-signed with dmg Radio to a multi-million dollar deal for a further 4 years after reportedly being approached by SCA.

DMG are believed to have paid significantly for the signatures, with sources suggesting that the 4-year deal is worth over $11 million dollars for the duo.

Triple M comes back to Perth

From September 2, Triple M will be heard in Perth on digital radio. Last time the Triple M brand was used in the west was in the early 90s when 96FM was then 6MMM.

CRA lose appeal, radio to pay separate streaming fees

Back in February the Federal Court ruled that artists and record labels could now seek licence fees from radio stations for music streamed via their websites.

Commercial Radio Australia appealed the decision but the Australian High Court has now rejected their appeal.

PPCA CEO Dan Rosen said: “For too long radio has had a free kick-driving listening audience numbers and profits via the Internet while not paying artists fairly for use of their recordings.”

Holmesy leaves Hot Tomato

Paul ’Holmesy’ Holmes announced on-air that he is leaving Hot Tomato on the Gold Coast.

The ’Holmesy & Flan’ Breakfast Show has been on the station for a number of years, originally in drive, and was this week expanded when Emily-Jade O’Keeffe was added to the lineup.

SCA FY13 results ahead of expectations

Southern Cross Media Group have announced their FY13 results on ASX.

The key headline is that their NPAT (net profit after tax) came in slightly ahead of the guidance given in February at the half year results ($90m – $95m) at $96.0 million.

2Day FM to trial new late night show

Starting tonight, a new show will be trialled on 2Day FM in Sydney.

Airing Monday to Thursday from 10pm to midnight, and hosted by Nic Kelly, the show will be called Trending Tonight and is obviously designed to flow on from The Bump and its focus on social media.

ARN CEO talks iHeartRadio

Matt Lucas ’suffers’ during Fiveaa interview

Matt Lucas is in Australia for the Word Adelaide Festival. He’s being doing the rounds of radio and TV to much laughter and fun.

When he appeared on Fiveaa’s afternoon program, host Belinda Heggen delved into Lucas’ childhood and the chat then led the Little Britain star to say “I feel like I’m suffering in this interview.” Heggen quickly went to an ad break.
