Hughesy & Kate into Perth along with Kyle & Jackie O
Hughesy & Kate will make their debut on 96fm for the drive home from June 22.
With ARN acquiring 96fm from Fairfax earlier this year, the move sees Hughesy & Kate on every KIIS network station across the country as they gun to be the number one brand in the 25-54 market.
“I am very pleased that our audiences in Perth will now be able to drive home with the much-loved Hughesy & Kate, one of radio’s all-time great partnerships who have established themselves as the country’s most popular Drive show”, said Duncan CampbellARN Group Content Director.
“In addition, including the Kyle & Jackie O Hour as part of our line-up is a key part of our strategy in delivering great shows, the best on-air talent and compelling content for our listeners.”
ACMA under review
The Australian Communications and Media Authority is under review by the Government.
With AMCA being around since 2005, the communications landscape has changed dramatically and the review is aimed at ensuring that the regulator is able to deal with the challenges arising from the rapid changes in the sector.
ACMA, doesn’t just cover radio regulations but all broadcasting, internet, communications and telecommunications.
Through the Minister for Communications Malcolm Turnbull, the Government says it “considers it timely to review ACMA to ensure it remains fit-for-purpose for both the contemporary and future communications regulatory environment.”
This is Angus O'Loughlin and Ash London
Angus O'Loughlin and Ash London have been doing the Shazam Top 20 around Australia for around 7 months. We caught up with them to talk about a heap of stuff.
Who was it who told Angus “It’s not good … change it” when he first started out in the business, and then who was instrumental in his career and didn’t give it up on him? Did Ash even know who Craig Bruce was?
We talk about the prep that goes into the show each and every day and if the whole Shazam thing is legit or just the normal approach to countdowns?
And what does Ash do when Angus and Smallzy thrash it out again on Twitter?
SBS Radio: 40 Years!
For the month of June SBS is celebrating the 40th anniversary of SBS Radio, and 40 years as the voice of multicultural Australia.
Established in June 1975 SBS Radio has grown and developed into the world’s largest multicultural media organisation with 74 language programs and four music channels producing over 265 hours of original, Australian focused news and information every week.
SBS Director of Audio Language Content – Radio, Mandi Wicks said: “Radio is at the heart of SBS, and is the foundation from which we have grown into a modern, multi-platform network. Just two years on from the launch of our new radio schedule and new language programs, we are now delivering news and information to a larger and more diverse community and across more platforms, than at any other point in our history.”
Hamish & Andy’s Return: See the TVC
Southern Cross Austereo is ramping up their marketing for the return of Hamish & Andy. From Sunday they kick start their multi-platform campaign on TV, transit, digital, online and social. You can see their Sydney TVC below.
When we spoke to SCA Head of Content Craig Bruce, we asked how hard they we going to push, Craig said: “Very hard, across all platforms. The thing for us is we don’t have to explain the show to anyone, they already know who Hamish & Andy are. They know what they are going to get with the show. We just have to tell people where to find them.”
