The 2014 ACRAs Winners
The 26th Annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards have been announced at a gala black tie affair at the Melbourne Convention and Entertainment Centre. Winners were announced in 34 categories, across news, talkback, sport and music; as the industry joined to celebrate their achievements. WS FM’s Jonesy & Amanda, have won the Best On-Air Team (Metro FM). It is their second Best On-Air Team win.
Keeping it in the family, Executive producer of the show Laura Viglino won Best Show Producer (Entertainment/Music) and Jonesy and Amanda also took out Best Syndicated Program for their national weekly show, My Generation.
The night also saw Itch, Bonnie Anderson, Castlecomer and Dami Im hit the stage.

hit107 Adelaide launched this morning
After 34 years on the Adelaide radio dial SAFM is gone forever. At 8am Adelaide, a new era launched with hit107. Targeting young women in their 20s with a promise of ‘playful, social and colourful’ radio.
SAFM was seen as “daggy, conservative and little too safe”, Craig Bruce told RadioToday last week. SCA have turned the old station on its head with hit107. Here is what we know so far….
Hamish & Andy reveal their 2015 plans
“…we are in negotiations with SCA to perhaps do a breakfast slot next year”, Andy Hamish & Andy have finally revealed their plans for 2015 and what better forum than the industry’s night of nights, the ACRAs. The industry has been abuzz with speculation of what H&A are planning for the New Year, so they laid it all out Saturday night.
Denton’s 7 tips for success
In a very impressive keynote at Commercial Radio Australia’s Conference on Friday – described by Joan Warner as “one of the best ever” – Andrew Denton has had the audience at the conference eating out of his hand.
Denton’s keynote resonated with everyone in the room, it connected well and of course as you’d expect it was funny. He took us on tour of his career, how he started, the impact of radio on his career, and how it then evolved into a television career.
The focal point of the presentation, and what had people scrambling for pens and paper were his “Tips for Success”.
Phil O’Neil returns to 2MMM
Phil O’Neil, the original Hot 30 host on the Today Network, will return to Sydney from December. Since leaving the Today Network, O’Neill has spent time with Nova 969, in the UK, Triple M Adelaide and Triple M Sydney on both Nights and Breakfast. Most recently he has been doing Mornings on Triple M Brisbane.
Now, with Anthony Maroon’s departure from Triple M Sydney to focus on his career as an NRL commentator, O’Neill will return to Sydney to host Mornings.
