Oh Wonder signs to Dew Process

PRESS RELEASE:

London-based duo Oh Wonder today release the ninth installment of their twelve month long project as well as being welcomed to the Dew Process family – joining the likes of London Grammar, Mumford & Sons, Tkay Maidza, Art Of Sleeping, Eves The Behavior and Last Dinosaurs.

Oh Wonder are Anthony and Josephine, both classically trained multi-instrumentalists who write, produce and mix their tracks together in their home studio in South East London. The duo have been not-so-quietly recording and releasing one track every month for a year on SoundCloud culminating in their forthcoming debut album to be released inSeptember. The latest track to be released is chilled out, late night slow jam ‘Livewire’ which is available now via iTunes.

Now eight months in to their debut project, each track has topped the Hype Machine charts and collectively garnered over 14 million streams across SoundCloud and Spotify. The duo’s songs have been featured on the Radio 1 BBC Introducing playlist and have received significant support from Huw Stephens, Greg James and Zane Lowe (who made ‘Lose It’ his ‘Next Hype’),plus support from XFM in the form of their Great X-Pectations and playlist.

Speaking to Wonderland Magazine of the initiative Josephine says “Initially we wanted to set ourselves a challenge that had concretedeadlines and release dates, not only to push us to make art but also to create an opportunity to actually release the music; putting it out intoworldis the best feeling ever. However, having witnessed the reaction over thelast six months, we have realised how many people are really connecting with the music and are consequently invested in this journey with us.”

British Press The Guardian awarded them the influential New Band Of The Week accolade proclaiming “you can hear their every lovelorn word as they sing wanly over sparse beats and spacious settings. These are late-night slow jams, electronic ballads that are more chilled than chilling, born out of the quiet revolution started by the xx and James Blake. Each tune builds up nicely – it’s not just their songwriting they’ve attended to, but the arrangement and dynamics of production.”

Oh Wonder will make their live debut with shows scheduled in London, Paris, Los Angeles and Brooklyn all of which sold out in hours of tickets being released.
