Icelandic sensations Of Monsters and Men today reveal plans to return to Australia for East Coast tour dates in April and May 2016. Following on from colossal international success, the acclaimed quintet will open their tour at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Thursday 28th April, followed by their first ever performance at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on Sunday 1st May, and onto Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Wednesday 4th May.
After delivering a rapturous performance at this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival, Of Monsters and Men descended upon the US to take in some of the country’s most eminent theatres, from New York’s Beacon Theatre to LA’s Greek Theatre, along with an appearance at Austin City Limits. The band continues to enthrall audiences with their unique live show, which famously incorporates everything from guitars, drums and bass to trumpet, accordion, trombone and keyboards, all coupled with dual female-male lead vocals.
Of Monsters and Men are currently in the midst of a huge European and UK tour including two sold-out London Brixton Academy shows earlier this week, and will close out the year in the States. 2016 will bring multiple Lollapalooza appearances, South African festival performances, and now an Australian tour.
Released earlier this year, ‘Beneath The Skin’ is the sophomore album from Of Monsters and Men, co-produced by Rich Costey who is known for his work with Muse, Foster the People, Death Cab for Cutie, Chvrches and more. It’s a contemplative offering, delving deeply into the core of what it means to be human and underpinned by elevated crescendos and a big-band sound. DIY Mag says of the LP, “On the surface… the second album is a lush master-class in pop sensibilities and folk storytelling… Scratch below that glittering surface and you’ll discover a band that has discovered themselves”.
The album’s lead single ‘Crystals’, is propelled by a steady up-tempo drum rhythm and continues to be heard on airwaves around the country. A soaring guitar-fuelled anthem, current single ‘Empire’ is a complete with resounding charm and monstrous hooks.
