NT Song of the Year 2017 finalists revealed, and voting is open

NT Song of the Year 2017 finalists revealed, and voting is open

MusicNT’s has announced the Northern territory’s ‘Song of the Year’ finalists, with the winners set to be announced at the awards ceremony on July 8th at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory Amphitheatre.

Showing off the talents often hidden away in one of the more remote corners of the country, the awards are judged by a panel of industry experts, picking winners from an array of genres and even picking the best track for Northern territory tourism.

“Thanks to the judges for their work narrowing down over 350 entries to this year’s finalists,” said MusicNT’s Executive Director, Mark Smith. “The judges comments reflected how much the standard has grown over the last few years and the successful tracks reflect what is so good about the NT music scene.

Giving the judges a short break is the People’s Choice Award, for which voting has just opened – head here to get your vote in before 4pm on July 3rd.

The full list of nominees can be found below, ranging from icons like Gurrumul to new talent including Dhapanbal Yunupingu (daughter of Yothu Yindi’s Dr Yunupingu), soul singer and Briggs collaborator Caiti Baker, and the band who’ve been picked to support Queens of the Stone Age on their Splendour sideshow in Darwin, Lonely Boys.
