NSW small business grants could be just the ticket

Got a small business, based in Sydney and need a cash injection (who doesn’t)? You might just qualify.

The Small Business Grant is a key priority of the New South Wales Government, and music companies are absolutely encouraged to apply.

The bottom line: successful applicants can benefit to the tune of $2,000 payable per full time equivalent position.

This could be you:

To be eligible, a business must have an active ABN and not be liable for or exempt from payroll tax in NSW. Any businesses in the music industry that satisfy these conditions and those that employ a worker in NSW – not just Sydney — would be eligible for the grant.

It’s worth noting, applications should be made within 60 days after which the employment commenced. If this date has passed, however, send in an email to [email protected] requesting retrospective approval to register.

To meet NSW’s Revenue’s requirements, employment must commence between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2019 and must be maintained for a full 12 months.

It’s unclear just how successful applicants are from the music industry. A spokesperson for Revenue NSW says there’s no data to pull on the music biz, though interested music professionals are welcome to pour over the specs which can be found at www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/grants.
