Nova brings out big names for essential workers’ Thank You Concert

Nearly 1,110 people were invited to join Nova Entertainment’s exclusive Thank You Concert for essential workers on Saturday night.

After Nova, smoothfm and Star 104.5 provided an opportunity for listeners to nominate and share the story of someone they know who has been working at the forefront of COVID-19 to experience the concert, those workers were treated to the live streamed show.

Performances, interviews and special messages flooded in across the broadcast with standout sets from Amy Shark, Ellie Goulding, JP Saxe and Julia Michaels, Jonas Brothers, Keith Urban, and Niall Horan, just to name a few.

Hosted by Nova’s Kent ‘Smallzy’ and smoothfm’s Richard Wilkins, the Thank You Concert featured an interview with Katy Perry who shared that she’s been taking things “one day at a time”.

“[I’ve been] thinking about my future and my baby’s future and thinking about the dreams I still want to achieve,” she said.

Other highlights included Chris Martin’s personal thank you to essential workers:

“I’m really happy to be part of Nova and smoothfm’s Thank You Concert, which is saying thank you to all of you out there who have been working on the healthcare frontlines and generally looking after each other,” the Coldplay frontman said.

“You’re amazing, we thank you, I thank you, the band thanks you and send you all our love.”

Closing out the live stream on Saturday night, Daryl Braithwaite performed his hit single ‘Horses’ and Delta Goodrem rounded out the concert with Australian classic ‘Land Down Under.’
