MMAD Announces Refreshed Identity and New Board of Directors (EXCLUSIVE)
MMAD is marking its 25th anniversary with some big changes.

MMAD is marking its 25th anniversary with some big changes.
The Music Network can exclusively reveal that the local music organisation - formerly known as Musicians Making A Difference - will move forward as Music Making A Difference, in an effort to keep to “put the role of music more visibly at the centre of its identity".
“We’ve always believed in seeing the young person before the circumstances around them,” MMAD said in a statement. “What’s changed is the scale, the reach and the number of ways we can use music and mentoring to transform young lives.
“Music meets young people where they are and wraps around them when they’re in their darkest moments. They can come as they are - walls, chaos and all. It’s a creative refuge, a safe place to express what they’re going through, ask for help and find ways through complex challenges.”
The Music Network can also announce that MMAD has updated its Board of Directors. Garret Haakma, Co-Managing Director of EMI Australia, has officially been appointed Chairperson, with Mukesh Chander and Lani Booth joining as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively.
“25 years felt like the perfect moment to honour where we’ve come from and re-dream where we’re going,” the charity said. “We’re carrying forward everything we’ve learned over 25 years - the experience, the heart, the belief in young people and our incredible community - and now we want to take that belief and the power of music to thousands more young people.”
To celebrate the news, MMAD has today released a new single with local artist Prinnie Stevens, “Light Up My Mind”. Check it out below.

Reporting from inside the Australian music business since '94.
Stevens has worked with MMAD since 2012, when she joined as an ambassador. The track also features a choir of artists who have been involved in programmes with the organisation over its 25-year history.
“Light Up My Mind is really about that moment when something shifts inside you - when you see possibility where you couldn’t see it before,” MMAD said. “That’s what we’ve been trying to do for young people for 25 years: create a spark and help them find hope and happiness.”
