Believe and Mandatory Music have announced a strategic global partnership.

The deal sees Mandatory Music, a rising Australian independent label and marketing services company, tap Believe, a global artist development company, “to power its full suite of label services,” including global distribution, global DSP pitching, marketing, sync, and neighbouring rights.

“Known for its tech-forward, data-driven approach to discovering and funding talent at all stages of development, Mandatory Music has quickly established itself as a premier destination for emerging artists in Australia and beyond,” a press release states.

In the past 18 months, Mandatory Music has worked with over 300 artists working in a variety of genres, including The Slims, Pretty Bleak, Betty, and many more.

“By utilising Believe's unique digital capabilities and global footprint, the partnership aims to elevate Ma dater's diverse roster to international audiences while maintaining the label's core independent values,” the press release adds.

Believe AUNZ Regional Manager Mick Tarbuk is excited about the newly announced partnership.

“We have been watching the incredible work Mandatory Music has been doing for some time now. Their data-led approach to artist development is world-class, and we are thrilled to be the engine behind their next chapter,” Tarbuk says.

“By plugging Mandatory's roster into Believe's global DSP relations and cross-territory marketing strategy, we're ensuring that these exceptional Australian artists have a clear, powerful path to wider audiences and to building sustainable and successful careers without ever having to compromise their independence.”

“Mandatory Music started with a simple belief: that great music can come from anywhere, and that emerging artists with great songs deserve access to the same level of marketing intelligence, funding and global infrastructure typically reserved for much larger acts," say Mandatory Music co-founders Joe Landini and Will Tinkler.

"We've spent the last few years building a better pathway for emerging artists — one that uses data to identify real audience demand and create opportunities for artists who may otherwise have been overlooked by the industry.

"Partnering with Believe allows us to take that mission to the next level, combining our international, data-driven approach to artist development with Believe's global reach, DSP relationships and deep expertise across independent music.

“Together, we're giving the artists we work with a clearer path to building competitive, sustainable, international careers while staying independent.”
