Hosts announced for Virtual First Nations Suite masterclasses
APRA AMCOS’ National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Office (NATISMO) has unveiled the artists presenting the next round of Virtual First Nations Suite masterclasses.
The 3-2-1 songwriting session (three hours, two songwriters, one song) will be run by producer and Eskimo Joe bandmember Joel Quartermain in May. Expressions of interest are currently being accepted until April 28.
“We are very familiar with the incredible music [Quartermain] has produced and collaborated on with songwriters such as Budjerah, Benny Walker and Dan Sultan as well as, of course, his earlier work as a member of Eskimo Joe,” NATSIMO’s Leah Flanagan and Donna Wood said in a statement.
“We thank him greatly for supporting our First Nations Suite and are excited that two of our members will have an opportunity to work with him.”
Elsewhere, screen composer Dale Cornelius will present the third and final instalment of his ‘Evolution of a Cue’ masterclass series on April 29, and engineer Becki Whitton will lead the production masterclass with ‘The Final Stage: Breaking Down Mastering’ on April 30. RSVPs and expressions of interest are currently open for the production and composition masterclasses.
The Virtual First Nations Suite was launched by NATSIMO back in February. The previous masterclasses featured workshops curated by Mo’Ju, Cornelius, Candice Lorrae and producer Magoo.
“With the Virtual First Nations Suite, we encourage all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander APRA AMCOS members to register and join these sessions from wherever they may be. If you are familiar with the topic and enthusiastic to build your skills, we hope you’ll join us online,” Flanagan said at the time.
