Ride With Me: Naoo Launches Petrol-Comparison App for Artists
Australia’s touring artists will never truly defeat the tyranny of distance. One innovative new app aims to make life on the road a little easier.
Presented today (June 27), the Naoo App is a free, cost-saving petrol app, powered by brand ambassador Ben “Boo” Gumbleton, leader of indie act Boo Seeka, and with the support of various artists and music companies.
Gumbleton is road-testing Naoo on his Raw Files Tour, which kicks off July 12 and sees the artist work his way across regional, suburban and metro New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Queensland.
“Touring can be tough financially, and Naoo’s support helps ease that burden,” comments Gumbleton. “I’m pumped to be part of a campaign that’s all about giving real support to artists and musicians. It will make it way easier to share our music and connect with fans. This support is a much-needed break for everyone on the road.”
Also, Naoo is said to be working with the likes of Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, The Grogans, Dear Sunday, Boy and Bear, and Ash Grunwald on their own getaways.
The app tracks fuel prices and EV charging stations across Australia, information that can guide an artist and their team on where and when to fill up the tank.
Every dollar saved is a dollar gained for Australia’s touring artists, who typically navigate enormous distances between shows and face an uphill battle with the cost-of-living-crisis. Factor-in the unpredictable bounce in prices at the bowser, rising costs across freight, expenses and support, it’s never been tougher to make a buck.
“Naoo is committed to supporting the music community by backing musicians and bands at every stage of their careers, irrespective of their experience or time in the industry,” reads a statement.
Available for download from Apple App Store and Google Play, the app will double-down on its pledge with opportunities for musicians to win fuel vouchers by sharing their performance or photos.
Fuel comparison is the starting point for Naoo’s journey. Over time, the brand has ambitions to become a one-stop digital platform for all car-related services, with plans underway to expand state-based and national services from window tinting, mechanics, car wash, tyres, detailing, and more.
