Musiio and Jamendo partner on AI catalogue tagging: Exclusive

Jamendo, the indie licensing platform and sync specialist, has tapped Musiio to tag it catalogue using artificial intelligence, The Industry Observer can exclusively reveal.

Through the new partnership, Musiio’s AI is expected to take the grunt work out of generating tags for tunes, and do so with precision, and at pace and scale.

Singapore-based Musiio has expertise in B2B audio reference search, automated tagging and playlisting tools and provides a “second-to-none AI tool that perfectly fits the needs of Jamendo,” comments the company’s General Manager Jocelyn Seilles.

The collaboration will “certainly bring efficiency in our processes as well as a great level of homogeneity in metadata,” he continues, “benefitting our listeners, customers and artists.”

Musiio is led by its founder and CEO Hazel Savage, a Brit with experience working with Shazam in London, Universal Music in Sydney, and BandLab in Singapore.

“I have known the team – and known of the team – at Jamendo since well before I started Musiio, back when I was working at Shazam in the U.K., Jamendo was a player in the same scene,” Savage explains.

“I am delighted we now get to tell the world we are working together. Jamendo has long been a supporter and constant presence in the lives of independent artists. We are excited to now be part of the experience and the journey.”

Based in Luxembourg, Jamendo is one of the biggest emergent music platforms supporting unaffiliated, independent artists by offering them a global DIY space to display and sell their works.

Its Jamendo Licensing business clears music for syncing across audiovisual projects from film and TV to ads, games, corporate videos and more and boasts a library with more than 240,000 tracks and upwards of 9,000 artists.
